Why does my Catalog take so much space?

The most common reason is the Cache Documents folder on Windows / History folder on macOS, where your edits are located (the history of edits, including sky textures that were applied to the pictures, erased layers, the applied LUTs, masking, etc.). The logic is simple: the more images you adjust, the more space is taken by the Cache Documents (on Windows) / History (on macOS) folder.

🧹 How to Free Up Space

These files are automatically removed when you remove the associated images from your Luminar Neo Catalog. But if you're sure you no longer need the edit history, you can manually clear the edits to free up disk space.

🔧 Steps to Clear the Cache (Manual Method)

  1. Close Luminar Neo completely.

  2. Go to the Luminar Neo Catalog folder, which is located in the Pictures folder by default.

  3. Open the CacheDocuments subfolder.

  4. Delete all contents EXCEPT the Resources folder.

  5. Empty the Recycle Bin (optional).

Q&A Section

💡 Why clear these folders? To free up disk space. These folders can grow quite large as you edit more photos. Remember, when removing the image from the Catalog, the edits are also automatically removed.

🕒 When is it safe to clear them? It's generally safe if you've already exported your edited images and don’t need the undo/redo history anymore.
