# Activate Luminar for Desktop on another device

Learn how to transfer your Luminar for Desktop license to a new device with this step-by-step activation guide.

If you want to change the device you are using for editing with Luminar for Desktop, you need to reset your activation counter. You can do this in your Skylum account or directly in Luminar for Desktop when you activate it on your new device. You can also purchase an extra seat as an option.

When you open Luminar for Desktop on your new device, log in with your Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple account or with your email and password:

If you've already used all available seats and wish to replace your seat(s) with another device(s), just select the license:

and click **Sign out & Launch** next to the device you want to remove:

{% hint style="info" %}
It’s safe to sign out from all devices at once if you don’t know which device to remove.

New device(s) will be added to the list as soon as you activate Luminar for Desktop on them, and the old device(s) will be automatically added when you launch the app.
{% endhint %}

Alternatively, you can also get a new seat if you don't want to remove Luminar for Desktop from other devices:

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://support.skylum.com/manage-license/activate-luminar-for-desktop-on-another-device.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
