Erase tool

The Erase tool allows you to remove unwanted objects, blemishes, or distractions from your photo using AI-powered content-aware fill.

How to Use: Tap the Erase icon. Resize the brush, then drag your finger across the object you want to erase. The selected area will be highlighted. Luminar uses nearby pixels to fill in the erased area with natural-looking texture. Tap the checkmark to apply or use Undo to refine.

• Brush Size – Adjust the brush diameter by sliding left (smaller) or right (larger).

• Undo/Redo – Use the back arrow to undo a stroke or the forward arrow to redo it.

• Checkmark – Apply changes.

• X Icon – Cancel without saving.

When to Use: Ideal for removing small distractions (power lines, skin blemishes, dust spots), or even large objects like people or cars in the background.

Pro Tip: After erasing, zoom in to check edges. Use the Undo button to refine your results with precision.

GenErase

GenErase is an AI-powered tool that removes unwanted objects from your photos and intelligently fills the selected area with content that matches the surroundings.

How to Use: Tap Erase and select the GenErase option. Adjust the brush size, then draw over the object you want to remove. Once you finish selecting the area, Luminar will automatically generate a new result. The generation process may take a few moments.

When to Use: GenErase is ideal for removing unwanted objects and distractions, such as people, small objects, or other elements that you want to eliminate from your photo while keeping the surrounding area looking natural.

GenErase requires an internet connection.

Tips:

• We recommend removing objects one by one, ensuring they are fully marked. For example, if you need to erase an unwanted person and a car in the background, start by removing the car, fully masking the object. After successfully removing the car, proceed to erase the person in the same manner.

• If you are dissatisfied with the result, it's advisable to continue erasing or consider restarting the process from the beginning.

• Achieving the best result often requires a few attempts.
