#### How to Use

1. Select **Erase** from the right-side panel.
2. Choose **Select** and adjust **Brush Size** to match the area you want to remove.
3. Brush over the unwanted object or area. The selected region is highlighted so you can see what will be removed.
4. Switch to **Deselect** if you need to remove parts of the selection.
5. Click **Erase** to remove the marked area.

#### When to Use

Erase is ideal for removing unwanted objects and distractions, such as small spots, people, or other elements that take attention away from the main subject.

## GenErase

**Gen Erase** is designed for more complex object removal. It generates new content in the selected area based on the surrounding image, helping reconstruct the scene after an unwanted element is removed.

#### How to Use

1. Select **Erase** from the right-side panel and turn on **Gen Erase**.
2. Adjust **Brush Size** and use **Select** to mark the object you want to remove.
3. Use **Deselect** to refine the selection if necessary.
4. Select **Erase** to process the marked area and generate a replacement that blends with the surrounding scene.

#### When to Use

Gen Erase is ideal for removing objects that require the background or surrounding scene to be reconstructed, such as people, vehicles, or other prominent distractions.

**Tips:**

* We recommend removing objects **one by one**, ensuring they are fully marked. For example, if you need to erase an unwanted person and a car in the background, start by removing the car, fully masking the object. After successfully removing the car, proceed to erase the person in the same manner.
* If you are dissatisfied with the result, it's advisable to **continue erasing** or consider restarting the process from the beginning.
* Achieving the best result often requires **a few attempts.**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://support.skylum.com/luminar-for-web/how-to-use-luminar-for-web/erase.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
