The **Restoration** tool revives old or damaged photos with advanced AI precision — repairing scratches, restoring color, and bringing cherished memories back to life in just one click.

This AI-driven tool analyzes your photo to distinguish between what should be rebuilt and what should remain untouched. It fills in cracks, smooths textures, restores skin tones, and revives color — all while preserving the original essence of the image.

### How It Works

#### Step 1: Open the Tool

1. Import the black and white/vintage images you want to restore to the Catalog.
2. Go to the **Restoration** panel.
3. Select the image you want to restore.

#### Step 2: Choose a Mode

| **Full** | Removes scratches and restores color. *(Default mode)* |
| ------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Color** | Adds lifelike color to black-and-white photos. |
| **Scratches** | Removes visible damage while keeping the original tones. |

#### Step 3: Click Restore

After choosing a mode, click **Restore**.\
The processing happens online, and once it’s complete, Luminar automatically saves your new image in the **Restoration** folder in your Catalog.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Internet connection** is required for processing.
{% endhint %}

Additional Notes:

* Not available in **plugin mode**.
* **Batch processing** is currently not supported.
